Comp this weekend

This weekend our friend Brandon from Industry skate park is hosting a otter sweet comp. Our boyz Michel, Vince, Joe and more will be there to have some fun and rip the park.

At the same time in Ottawa, Ryan and Ozzi will be doing some dirt jumping at the "Guy show" at Lands-down park.

And at the same time my dad is getting maried. Buzy weekend a head of us...

So how was that artistic bike show anyways?

I know it's bit overdue, but here's what happened last week end.

After loading up on the coffee, donuts , and beans (Alain loves his beans), we hit the road and headed east to Montreal.
For this trip Alain and I were accompanied by our girlfriends; Geneviève and Julie, and by our employee of the year; Hooligan.
When we arrived we were greeted by the nice and friendly people from Cyclo Nord-Sud.
f you don't know what these guys do you must check them out. Recycling un-used bikes to be used by people from developing countries is beyond awesome. I was personally amazed by the drive, organization, and determination these people have.
If you're in the area and have a old bike you're not using, instead of turning it into a snow bike you're never gonna use, get in touch with Cyclo Nord-Sud! http://www.cyclonordsud.org

e set up in the alley like the true bad-boys we are (as if!) and I immediately began welding frames. Welding in the sun was a great experience. The wind was non-existent so my welds were never compromised. The weather was perfect!
The day got even better when the girls came back from some quick shopping with fresh fruits and delicious Merguez sausages!

The crowd, as well as the exhibitors, were different than what we are used to. People seemed more eager to talk about the fabrication process than the finished product!
I had a blast discussing all sorts of technical mumbo-jumbo with other frame-builders, old-school geniuses, and other bike geeks!
And as always I had lotso fun teaching people the basics of TIG welding!I was lucky to have my dad come and checked us out. He had visited the shop before, but never actually witnessed a frame being welded. I must also point out his impecable fashion sence.

All four of us were invited for supper at my dad's for. We ate soop, drank tea, and watched the Hab's lose... (no worries we got our revenge on monday!)
On sunday afternoon, after a quick shopping session at the drum shop and one last look at the exquisite works of two wheeled art that graced the warehouse floor, we packed up the dober-vann and went for some well deserved Gyros at the best greek restaurant in town, Arahova (remeber, kid's. Garlic is not a crime).

I'll let the Slideshow talk for itself...

Artistic Bike Show

Earth Day 2008 Cycle North-South and Right to Move/La Voie Libre are proud to present the first

at the cyclo nord-sud warehouse

7235 st-urbain, montréal.

Exhibition of exceptional bikes

Take this unique opportunity to meet some of the most talented bicycle frame builders from Québec and Ontario, passionate people for whom a bicycle is more than a mean of transportation: it’s also a piece of art!

Many custom bicycles wiil be exhibited in the Cyclo Nord-Sud warehouse, including restored/antique bicycles and a selection of classic touring and road bikes, reconditioned by Right to Move`s mechanics. These restored bicycles will be available for purchase, with all proceeds going to support Cycle Nord-Sud work in sharing the joys of cycling with developing nations.

The invitation is extended to cycling enthusiasts to bring their own bicycle to display and to chat with the artisans during this week-end. Attendants will also have the opportunity to watch frame welding demonstrations presented by Dorbermann Bikes during both days of the event. On Sunday, Jerome Abramovitch, renowned Montreal-based bike photographer, will be present to document the event and also to take custom photos of attendees and their bicycles.

We will be there , making some frames, if you want to come and say hi!

Taiwanese dob ?

Yes its true, there is now a Dobermann in Taiwan !?

But.... Dont freak out!
It was made in Aylmer Qc, just like the otters.

Even if he live in the country that produce probably around 95% of all the hi-end bikes in the world, Craig decided that he needed something above all of the mass produce frame and got himself a very sweet transpink Pinscher.
Thanks for the support Craig and send us some riding pix in Taipei!

One happy customer.

Today our friend Mark came to the shop for a final tune-up on his custom trial frame.
He took the bus from MTL and I picked him up at the bus station with the Dobermann rally car.

Did some small adjustment to his set up and WraapWraap back to the bus station.

Cheers! Alain

30 years old...already ?

I still cant believe it happened ? but its all to real...I did turn 30 years old last friday.
I was trying to avoid it, but hey!? I did not woke up any smarter or feeling older that day LOL.

To celebrate my birthday we did a pretty cool party at our new house, it was the perfect timing to do our "house-warming" party at the same time, since we moved in in February.

It was fun to see our old friends and celebrate one of the best year of my life, we had a blast playing "Rock band" and our friend Gabriel, which is also the welder at Dobermann, showed us what he can do on a drum and played a few song with his band "The Stabby Dancers".

I also got a pretty cool Bday gift, a sweet rally car that will allow me to come back on the Canadian rally championship, the thing is a real beast!!! It actually throw fire from the exhaust pipe LOL! Its also going to be the Dobermann Bikes company car.
